Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can we help you?

At Briarwood Dental, we focus on patient education because we know that when you're informed, you can make confident decisions that support excellent oral health. Dr. Clemmons, Dr. Derek Hayes, and Dr. Sasha Hayes will take the time to thoroughly explain why you need a certain procedure and how it will benefit you and your long-term oral health. You have a right to ask questions when you need more information, or something is not clear, and it's up to us to find the answers you need.

We've shared some of the questions we hear most often, but don't hesitate to contact us if you need more information because if it matters to you, it matters to us!

Yes! We want everyone in our community to have access to high-quality dental care, so we offer several ways for you to finance the cost of your treatment.

If you don’t have dental insurance, or you need help with out-of-pocket expenses, we offer our own Briarwood Dental Membership Plans as well as a third-party financing option through CareCredit.

We’re also pleased to accept major credit cards and offer discounts to patients who pay cash for treatment in full at the time of service.

It’s important to us that you don’t forego dental care because you’re worried about the cost. If you would like more information about financing your dental treatment, please call Briarwood Dental. We will work with you to find a way to ensure that you get the high-quality dental care you deserve.

Dental insurance is a valuable benefit that helps patients afford needed dental treatment. Unfortunately, it is not intended to pay for all your treatment in full. There is a maximum amount they allow for covered procedures, and you are responsible for the balance.

To help you understand how this works, many dental insurance plans use a formula they call "100-80-50" that are applied as follows:

  • 100 percent coverage for preventive teeth cleanings, dental exams, and diagnostic x-rays
  • 80 percent coverage for dental fillings, root canals, and other routine procedures
  • 50 percent coverage for dental crowns, bridges, and other major procedures

Dental insurance rarely covers cosmetic dentistry, but it will partially cover treatments like crowns and bridges that also improve the appearance of your smile.

Don’t worry if this sounds complicated; even those who work with dental insurance daily know what a challenge it can be to understand your coverage and how your benefits apply to treatment. But our staff is highly trained and dedicated to helping our patients maximize their dental coverage in a way that helps them achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.

If you have questions about your dental insurance benefits, please call our office and a member of our team will be happy to assist you.

Cosmetic Dentistry

We are very happy to be able to offer services such as Botox to help eliminate wrinkles and dermal fillers to lift sagging facial areas and help restore lost facial support and restore your glowing appearance.

Please call Briarwood Dental if you would like more information about the facial treatments we offer to rejuvenate your appearance.

There’s never been a better time than right now to improve your smile! Updated techniques, improved materials, and state-of-the-art technology all combine to give us nearly unlimited ways to transform your smile.

Just tell us what there is about your smile you'd like to improve, and our cosmetic dentists will help you find the dental treatment to achieve your goals:

  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Cosmetic bonding
  • Invisible aligner treatment
  • Teeth whitening options
  • Porcelain dental crowns

We want you to love your new smile, so an important part of the process is understanding what your goals are. You may need only one of these treatments, such as teeth whitening to brighten your smile and refresh your appearance. Or, we may recommend combining two or more to customize your smile makeover and help you achieve your personal goal of a stunning smile.

At Briarwood Dental, we also are trained to administer Botox injections, dermal fillers, and other similar cosmetic procedures. You’ll not only have a fresh new smile, but you’ll have the youthful facial appearance to go with it.

As you can see, we have lots of ways we can help you get the beautiful, confident smile you desire.  Please call our office to schedule a dental appointment to get started!

Dental Implants

There’s no doubt that a big gap in your smile can ruin your appearance and make you feel self-conscious. But missing teeth can also lead to other oral health problems and should definitely be replaced.

Dental implants are one of the most remarkable advancements we’ve ever seen in dentistry. In the past, we used dental implants mainly to replace a single missing tooth. But today’s technology and techniques allow us to not only replace a single tooth but even replace a denture with teeth that are attached to the mouth.

By placing just a few dental implants at specific points along your jaw, we can stabilize your dentures so that they stay securely in place. We can achieve beautiful results and, best of all, you don’t have to deal with messy adhesives and dentures that don’t fit properly.

Replacing one or more teeth with dental implants is a big step, and we want you to feel comfortable with the choice you make. We will talk to you about our different tooth replacement options and explain their advantages and disadvantages. Please call Briarwood Dental, and we’ll be happy to arrange a no-obligation consultation so we can get you started.

General Dentistry

We’ve seen so many remarkable advances in dentistry recently, and things are changing every day. So, it’s possible that sometime in the future we may be able to provide dentistry that would withstand a lifetime of use.

Since that day hasn’t arrived yet, at Briarwood Dental, we use only the highest quality premium dental materials that are strong and durable. All of our staff are experienced with the highest levels of training and education and who take pride in their work to deliver results that look beautiful and stand up to routine wear and tear.

One way you can extend the lifespan of your dental work is to be diligent about taking care of your teeth. Healthy habits like brushing twice a day, flossing once, and avoiding sugary foods go a long way toward keeping your teeth healthy and your dental work intact.

Visiting Briarwood Dental every six months for dental exams and teeth cleanings is another way to protect your dental work. During these visits, our dentists will also check the condition of all your crowns, bridges, and fillings to make sure they’re in good shape.

Our staff will look for signs of teeth grinding or bruxism, a habit that places excess stress on fillings, crowns, and bridges which can cause them to fail. In this case, we’ll customize a night guard for you to wear to protect your teeth from grinding and clenching while you sleep.

If you would like to talk to us about helping your dental work last, please call our office and schedule a time for us to meet with you.

Root Canals

We recognize that one of the most common reasons people avoid dental visits is anxiety. Whether it’s the distinctive smells and sounds, injections, or sitting in the dental chair, dental anxiety prevents many people from seeking the essential dental care they need.

At Briarwood Dental, we take every step to soothe your worries so that you can feel confident about taking care of your oral health. From a caring team who puts your needs first to comforting sedation dentistry, we’ll do everything we can to ensure you have a stress-free experience.

Sedation dentistry helps millions of people get the oral health care they wouldn’t otherwise be able to tolerate. We offer several types of sedation for your comfort:

  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
  • Oral conscious sedation
  • IV (intravenous) sedation

Members of our team are trained in dental sedation safety and can administer nitrous oxide and oral sedation. These types of sedation will help you relax, but they won’t knock you out. If you prefer to “check out,” we are also certified to safely administer IV sedation at our dental office.

Please don’t put off dental treatment because of anxiety. We understand your concerns and want you to get the care you need to maintain a healthy smile. If you would like to schedule an appointment to learn more about sedation dentistry, please call Briarwood Dental to arrange a dental appointment.
